How can I learn English quickly?
Listen a lot. There is no quick and easy way to learn any language. It takes a lot of time and a lot of hard work. But one of the best ways is to learn through listening. This is a natural way to learn a language. If you listen regularly, you will get better and better. After you can listen well, the speaking and reading will be much easier.
How can I learn to speak English?
Our method is listening first. If you want to learn to speak, you have to practice speaking. But before you can do that, you have to learn the basics of the language. The best way to prepare for speaking is to learn to listen and understand. Once you can listen, then you can start practicing speaking.
How should I study English
Listen a lot. Listen to lots of realistic passages, with different speakers, different accents, and different topics, and understand what the speaker means. Relax, enjoy it, and your English will get better and better.
Why does the Listening First method work?
Listening is the natural way to learn a language. That’s how children learn. Large amounts of listening helps learners to understand the rules of the language, naturally. This then forms a strong basis for learning the other skills, reading, speaking and writing.

What equipment do I need?
All you need is an internet connection and the Flash Player Plugin installed in your browser. Most modern browsers come with Flash player pre-installed.

Can I download the audio?
No, you may not download any audio from this site. All audio is copyright protected. You may only listen to the passages from our website.
Why can’t I download the audio?
It is very expensive creating these passages. If we gave away all the passages we would have to close the site.
How much does it cost? Where can I sign up?
$3 for each month. Go to the Subscribe tab to sign up.
How can I start listening?
Select a passage. Then, click the play button in the player just below the photo of the speaker.
How can I take the test?
Click the Take A Test button on the passage your listening to.
How do I know which CEFR level is best for me?
Try a few passages and find the level that works best for you. Here are the CEFR difficulties to choose from:
A1 = very easy
A2 = easy
B1 = everyday speech, but not too difficult
B2 = everyday speech, but more difficult
C1 = serious and often difficult
C2 = very difficult
Can I log in to English Listening from any computer with my user name and password, or am I limited to a single computer?
You may log in from any computer, but only on one computer at a time.
Do you offer transcripts?
You may view a transcript by clicking the View Transcript button.
What types of credit cards do you accept? Can I pay by check?
In the US, we accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Internationally, we accept VISA, Mastercard and American Express. We do not accept checks or EFT payments.
If I pay for my purchase with a credit card, is the transaction secure?

We do not store your credit card or billing information. When you renew, you can change that information.
How often does englishlistening.com perform web site improvements or updates?

How do I update my email address and password?
Go to the My Account tab. You can edit all your preferences on that screen.
How do I cancel my subscription? Will I get a refund?
To cancel, uncheck the auto-renew button. We do not offer refunds.
